Anthony Elgey General Manager of MP Futures

Anthony joined the Mineral Products Qualifications Council (MPQC) in 2013 as General Manager, with responsibility for setting up and running the Standard Setting Organisation known as MP Futures.

With over 20 years of experience in the quarrying, extractive and mining industry, he has always strived to raise the quality of training and education within the sector.

Passionate about all aspects of employee education and development, Anthony has developed and delivered product and skills-specific training packages for some of the biggest quarrying and construction material suppliers in the world, written specific vocational qualifications for extractive employees and created a bespoke e-learning system for Tarmac. 

Today, Anthony works to attract young people to the sector and closely liaises with employer specialist working groups in developing National Occupational Standards. He is also heavily involved in creating new apprenticeships for the quarrying, extractive and mining sector.

Furthermore, he also provides consultancy services for third parties within the quarrying, extractive and mining industry, which saw him most recently participating in a feasibility study for global engineering expert Mott MacDonald, during which he developed a scoping a five year training plan for a new iron ore plant in Simandou, Guinea.

Anthony continues to work with schools and young people as a STEM ambassador and has developed a number of British Science Association CREST awards. He is also a board member for the National Stone Centre, a museum dedicated to educating young people on the aspects of geology, paleontology and heritage.
